Mid to Senior Level Associate - Patent Litigation

Position Title: Patent Litigation Associate (5-7 years of experience)

The Role: 

Our growing IP litigation team requires a mid-senior attorney who specializes in patent litigation. You will have a strong academic background, including a PhD in life sciences, and have worked on large, complex patent litigation cases (representing branded clients). This opportunity would suit an ambitious AmLaw attorney looking for more first-hand experience of working directly with ex-BigLaw Partners and progressing their career into a Counsel position and beyond.  

 

Responsibilities: 

• An integrated member of patent litigation teams, collaborating with Partners on complex, high-stakes litigation. 

• Working with the team to handle patent litigation cases in federal court.  

• Knowledge of Hatch-Waxman litigation.  

• Manage and assist in all aspects of patent litigation cases, including legal research; drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests; taking and defending depositions; arguing discovery disputes; and participating in trial preparation.  

• Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on various patent law issues, including patent validity, infringement, and other related matters.  

 

Qualifications & Skills: 

• 5-7 years of experience as a patent litigator  

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school.  

• MA and ideally a PhD in life sciences 

• Experience in Hatch-Waxman litigation preferred.  

• Experience handling IPRs and PGRs at the PRAB (preferred but not required). 

• Admitted and in good standing to any US state bar.  

• Worked for an AmLaw 200 firm.  

• Experience as clerk at U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit / district court would be advantageous.   

• USPTO registration is a plus, but not required 

• Strong writing and oral communication skills.  

• Excellent organizational skills.  

• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
