Daniel Carmody

Partner, Tax and Private Wealth
Daniel Carmody is a partner in Sterlington’s Private Wealth team. He advises clients on complex tax matters related to domestic and international transactions, with a particular focus on structuring partnerships and limited liability companies. He also represents clients in high-stakes audits and appeals before the IRS.

Prior to joining Sterlington, Daniel was a partner at Morgan Lewis and, before that, a managing director in PwC’s National Tax Services group, where he advised on M&A transactions and enterprise-level tax strategies. He also served in the Office of Chief Counsel at the IRS, where he handled matters involving large corporate taxpayers, transfer pricing, and the Global High Wealth Industry initiative.

Clients turn to Daniel for his deep knowledge of partnership taxation and IRS procedure, as well as his strategic insights into audit risk and controversy management.

Daniel is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for Tax Law and has been recommended by The Legal 500 US for U.S. taxes (contentious). He has also served as an adjunct professor in the Graduate Tax Program at Villanova University School of Law.

He holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, an LL.M. in Taxation from Villanova University School of Law, and a B.A. from Loyola University Maryland. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the U.S. Tax Court.
