Sterlington is pleased to announce that our BVI Managing Partner, Callum McNeil, has been recognized for the third consecutive year in the Lexology Index (previously Who’s Who Legal) Asset Recovery 2025 report. This recognition reflects Callum’s longstanding reputation among clients and peers as a leading practitioner in the recovery of lost, misappropriated, or stolen assets.

With nearly two decades of offshore legal experience, Callum’s practice focuses on crypto, commercial litigation, and insolvency matters. He has advised clients in the Cayman Islands and Guernsey and now leads our BVI practice. His cross-border work often involves complex digital asset disputes, corporate shareholder claims, investment fund controversies, and high-stakes insolvency proceedings.’

Additionally, Callum applies his skill and strategic approach to unraveling complex global fraud schemes and helping clients navigate challenging legal grounds in multiple jurisdictions.

About the 2025 Lexology Index Report

The Lexology Index selects its nominees based on extensive, independent survey work of general counsel and private practitioners worldwide. Each specialist is chosen after meeting rigorous international research standards and receiving significant endorsements from industry professionals. Being named for a third year underscores Callum’s consistent ability to deliver effective solutions in the most challenging asset recovery scenarios.

Matters and Track Record

This latest recognition follows Callum’s recent ranking in the 2025 Chambers Global Guide for Dispute Resolution – British Virgin Islands, where he was commended for his experience in contentious proceedings involving insolvency, shareholder disputes, and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitration awards. Chambers research noted his capacity to think outside the box — an approach that has led to successful outcomes in landmark cases.

In one example, Callum and his team secured a favorable judgment enforcing a US judgment against a BVI company, enabling the client to recover assets, including a barge, for unpaid debts. The BVI Commercial Court issued a detailed judgment on the principles of common-law enforcement, strengthening the position of judgment creditors seeking to collect from BVI-based or asset-holding debtors.

Callum’s involvement in large-scale crypto liquidations, such as representing a major creditor in the Three Arrows Capital liquidation and handling multibillion-dollar fraud claims related to the Russian banking sector, further illustrates his ability to navigate high-stakes disputes.

His recognition by both the Lexology Index and Chambers highlights his dedication to excellence in offshore litigation and insolvency.
