Legal Outsourcing Senior Associate (quality review)

100% remote (aligned to Australian Eastern Time (AET) - Full-time, Independent Contractor

Our well-established and growing international law firm is looking for a Senior Associate to join our Legal Outsourcing team and support its growth. Sterlington was founded by a former BigLaw partner to provide high-quality legal services while working 100% remotely. Our clients include private equity and other investment funds, multi-billion-dollar family offices, public and private companies, investment banks, high-net worth individuals, and startups.

The Role

Our high-performing Legal Outsourcing team is continuing to grow through client wins. The team specializes as an outsourced provider to in-house legal teams’ contract review and management processes by providing a streamlined, efficient, one-stop service to achieving commercial agreements with third parties. We are looking for legal contract and compliance specialists to support our clients across NDA, MSA, engagement letters, vendor agreements and other commercial contracts. The international nature of our team means that this role will align to Australian Eastern Time (AET).

 

Responsibilities

  • Providing quality control within the team and acting as a second line / final reviewer of legal contracts for clients.
  • Responsible for contract negotiation with clients’ third-party vendors, based on agreed parameters. The associate is responsible for arriving at commercial consensus for each deal.
  • Provides management support to ‘junior’ associate team members conducting first-line documentation review.
  • Ensuring the team is working to agreed client SLAs whilst maintaining Sterlington’s high-quality outputs.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Admitted to Australian Bar Association (ABA)
  • LLM (UK, US, AUS)
  • 8+ years of legal experience
  • Experience in negotiating, reviewing, and drafting contracts in English for clients (especially Non-disclosure Agreements)
  • Previous management or leadership over contract compliance or review processes is advantageous
  • Committed to ‘achieving the deal’ and striving for commercial consensus
  • Possess attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work autonomously; but also committed to building a strong team environment.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Fluency in English language, or evidence of fluency / high business proficiency in English.
